City People, founded in 1983, is a group made up of residents, business people, elected officials, preservationists, activists, and artists working together to address issues concerning Knoxville's center city.
City People organizes the very successful bi-annual Home Tours of downtown residences. Many people who now reside in the historic downtown area do so as a result for having taken one of these City People Home Tours.
City People seeks to increase its membership and welcomes to its meetings anyone interested in learning more about the organization.

City People takes positions on and advocates issues affecting the center city, especially those concerning residential matters.
City People encourages activities which increase the health, vitality , and development of the center city, especially those aimed at increasing business and residential growth.
City People works with government and community groups to develop Knoxville's center city.
